Makeup How-To: Amethyst Eyes

Pair smoky violet eyes with sheer ochre lips for this dreamy makeup look

If you’re seeking color inspiration for the warm weather season, explore the look of Amethyst Dawn created by Aveda Global Artistic Director for Makeup Janell Geason, for our new Spring/Summer 2016 Makeup Collection Indian Sunset.

Showcasing deep purple hues with muted rose, the colors of this look evoke the magical moment when dusk transforms to dawn.

Here, Janell reveals the steps to the look:

Skin

Create a naturally luminous complexion by first pressing a small amount of Beautifying Composition Oil™ into skin.
Apply Inner Light™ Concealer where needed, then set lightly with Inner Light™ Mineral Loose Powder.

Eyes

Sweep Petal Essence™ Single Eye Color in Amethyst Dawn onto centers of eyelids, fading slightly past the creases, with the Medium Eye Color Brush.
Dab Petal Essence™ Single Eye Color in Lilac Glow onto top and bottom inner eye corners with the Eye Smudger brush.
Brush Petal Essence™ Eye Color Trio in Violet Blossom along bottom lash lines and diffuse color outward using the Eye Smudger Brush. Set by retracing lines with Petal Essence™ Single Eye Color in Amethyst Dawn using the Eye Smudger Brush.
Pat Petal Essence™ Eye Definer in Sea Fern onto inner and outer top eye corners and outer bottom eye corners with the Eye Contour Brush. Set lightly with Inner Light™ Mineral Loose Powder, if needed.
Highlight along the brow bones with Petal Essence™ Single Eye Color in Lilac Glow with the Medium Eye Color Brush.

Lashes & Brows

Curl lashes, and then brush Mosscara™ in Black Forest onto top and bottom sets.
Fill in brows, if needed, with Petal Essence™ Eye Color Trio in Gobi Sands using a brow brush.

Cheeks

Sweep Petal Essence™ Face Accents in Tessare along cheekbones with the Blush Brush.

Lips

Dab Nourish-Mint™ Sheer Mineral Lip Color in Sheer Clove onto centers of lips with the Medium Lip Brush and diffuse outward.
Slick Nourish-Mint™ Rehydrating Lip Glaze in Rose Dusk onto centers of lips, and diffuse outward with the Medium Lip Brush.
