This spring we’re all about bold color and big shapes. That’s why this vivid red hair color married with ample waves speaks to us so much. A key dimension of our spring/summer 2016 hair collection showcases Full Spectrum Deep, hair color specifically for naturally dark-haired guests with an extra lifting and depositing formula that still has our signature blend of botanical oils for beautiful results.
A key collaborator in developing these new shades, Yuji Okawa, Aveda Master Colorist, Aveda Japan, honed in on the current color trends in the Asian markets to create this red base.
Allen Ruiz, Aveda Global Artistic Director, Hair Styling, then accentuated the color with the gorgeous styling of rich, full waves. The collective result is bright ruby tones that melt downward from the cheekbones for a playful look that enlivens long hair.
Here Allen reveals the steps to achieving the style:
1. Prep damp hair with Color Conserve™ Daily Color Protect.
2. Style by applying Thickening Tonic and wrap-drying the hair with an Aveda Paddle Brush.
3. Part hair from the crown to nape to create 2 large sections while maintaining the center parting.
4. Working in sections, spray with Control Force™ Firm Hold Hair Spray, wrap around a 1 ½” 1.5″ curling iron and pin off-base. Continue until all sections are set.
5. When cooled, remove the pins, and gently brush through hair to reveal the expanded, gorgeous curl.
6. Set with Air Control™ Hair Spray.
