Growing Aveda: New Organic Community Garden Created at Headquarter Campus

Nature is at the heart of Aveda. Since 1978, Aveda has developed high performing products for beauty professionals and consumers made with botanical-based ingredients. It’s only natural then, that the next evolution of eco-responsibility and sustainability for Aveda would come to fruition in our headquarters’ own backyard.

Grow local, eat local
Aveda recently unveiled an organic community garden on the grounds of its headquarter campus in Blaine, Minnesota that encourages Aveda employees to grow their own fruits, veggies, herbs and/or flowers and share the experience with their friends, family and co-workers. Each plot owner (plots are 50 square feet) must adhere to organic gardening methods to grow their crops following organic principles — no herbicides, insecticides, chemical pesticides or fertilizers.

The goal? For employees to grow local to promote the health and well-being of all.

All organic, all the time
The garden is open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. seven days a week. And throughout the six months of nurturing and harvesting, plot owners will be invited to attend complimentary Lunch and Learn sessions taught by a master gardener. Plot owners will also have the opportunity to donate their harvest (or a portion thereof) to local food banks if they feel they are unable to consume what they’ve grown.

What would you grow in your dream organic garden?
